Delilah and Balistiq – GO
This is Delilah, that holy miss from the only bearable track Chase and Status have produced in forever ‘Time’ – the emo one that pussyole’s like me love to listen to on repeat cause i’m a sucka for a fit gurl with fit vocals. At Radio 1′s Big Weekend this year, it was the only golden moment of the whole 2 days and made the gross weather gross atmosphere and gross temperature 5% less puke-worthy. She’s put together a HOT new track, splicing about with Chaka Khan samples, with Balistiq who are fresh2death and super nice too. I interviewed them for Milk Teeth last week, here it iz:
Hi hunx. ’Go’ is our fave track on the globe right now, we wanna date it. Can you feed our greedy brains and tell us how the track came together – and working with that piece of perfection Delilah ….
We were in the studio at around 3am on a Sunday with no agenda, talking music, watching videos etc. Delilah started singing “Aint Nobody”, we started building the beat around it…15 minutes later we recorded the demo with no mic straight into the laptop. When people started hearing it in the days after, it was clear that we had to get in and make it a record!
Working with Delilah is fun and interesting, we have a great vibe together. Delilah is a genius in the booth and what we do on the other side of the glass seems to work out really well every time. Her album is crazy.
Delilah is a BABE. How would the pair of you describe your own production style? Apart from fkkn slick…
Different. It’s hard to pinpoint the Balistiq production style as every track we do is different to the next.. i’d say if you hear a track that makes you stop in your tracks, ask yourself, did Balistiq do that? Haha – honestly, we just try and bring the best elements out in each song, usually consisting of a mix of hard drums with a nice musical undertone.
And who do you have lined up for projects ATM?
Got quite a few very talented people we have worked with and are working with, people really feeling the stuff we have done with Plan Bs next album.. we have also collaborated with Grammy Award Winners Syience and Rick Nowels recently!
Fre$h. How did you two start working together? Please say it was something cute involving nursery classes and vibing off the same Playdays episodes?
We met through mutual friends when we were about 15. By chance we ended up being in the same class in college and were both really into music, we decided one day on the 123 on the way to Sir George Monoux college that we would produce together, that our name will be Balistiq and this is what we would do for the rest of our lives.. a lot of hard work, determination and 10 years later we are now Sony/ATV songwriter/producers embarking on firmly placing our stamp in music history.

You can catch Delilah playing live opening for LAMB at Somerset House on 16th July and throughout the festivals in the summer. As for Balistiq, no plans for live shows. Wanna see Balistiq live?
